Every “yes” you make forces a “no” on other things you make, you still have a responsibility to the existing things you said “yes” to
Have a Single Decision / one blanket Policy…that eliminates 100s of decisions for you in the future
I have a great admiration for Warren Buffet, Buffet is now 92 and doesn’t seem to be slowing down.
One of the keys to his huge success is his ability to say no to nearly everything except for his top two to three priorities.
His belief that “The difference between successful people and REALLY successful people is that really successful people say “no” to almost everything”, has also been reflected by Steve Jobs.
According to Steve Jobs, “People think focus means saying “yes” to the thing you’ve got to focus on. But that’s not what it means at all. It means saying “no” to the hundred other good ideas that there are. You have to pick carefully. I’m actually as proud of the things we haven’t done as the things I have done. Innovation is saying ‘no’ to 1,000 things.”
The lesson is clear. If you are struggling with too many items on your “to do” list, you have too many items on your “to do” list. Get rid of all of them except the first two. Then stay with these two till they are finished. Then start a new list of two items.
